MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU IN OŚWIĘCIM

AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU is a memorial and a cultural institution documenting German crimes in occupied Poland. The museum is only 4km (2.5 mi.) away from Apartamenty na Ceglanej and it’s easy to get there using the town’s main roads.

Basic information for individual visitors to Auschwitz:
Individual visitors may tour the Memorial independently or in organised groups with a guide.

Entrance to the Museum, to both Auschwitz I and Birkenau parts, is possible only with a personalized entry pass booked in advance. Reservations can be made at visit.auschwitz.org. The number of entry passes available is limited. Due to the huge interest visitors are kindly requested to book in advance at the website visit.auschwitz.org, as well as to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the tour. Larger luggage should be left in vehicles in the car park or in the visitor’s place of accommodation. Before the visit, please read the rules of visiting and the opening hours of the Museum.

ENERGYLANDIA

ENERGYLANDIA is the biggest Amusement Park in Poland, offering an impressive number of varied attractions situated on the area of 43 hectares, designed with all age groups in mind: children, teens, and adults. The Park is located in the Polish town of Zator, on the border of the two largest agglomerations of the Polish south: the Silesia and Lesser Poland Voivodeships. The distance to ENERGYLANDIA from Apartamenty na Ceglanej is around 17 km (10.5 mi.) and you can easily get there via national road no 44 (heading for Kraków).

Important information for guests that would like to attend the amusement park:
A crucial piece of information regarding ENERGYLANDIA is       that the park is using pay-one-price scheme, meaning that the guests are charged a single admission free and then, they are entitled to use all of the attractions as often as they wish during the working day they arrived there. This means that the guests don’t need to worry that during their visit they will run out of money for a yet another ride, or some other attractions, for their children or themselves.

 

OŚWIĘCIM CITY CENTER

In order to get to the Oświęcim city center, we suggest walking  – through the “Nations Reconciliation Park” and the green boulevard that is located along Soła River.

Oświęcim has a beautiful historic old town that is definitely worth seeing. One can also unwind, strolling along Main Market Square, and try some of the local specialties in numerous cafés and bakers that are located there. We also recommend visiting Oświęcim Castle from the 12th century, situated on the top of a hill, and its underground area that is available to visitors. There are many other monuments in Oświęcim, such as Auschwitz Jewish Center. 

BIKE PATHS

There are many picturesque bike paths in Oświęcim and for our guests who would like to try them, there are bicycles available – free of charge. The paths are very diverse in terms of technical and endurance requirements, thanks to which everyone can choose a path that meets their requirements. We recommend doing sightseeing in Oświęcim, using the town’s network of bike paths that make it possible to visit even the farthest corners of our charming town in a relatively short time. For the most experienced cyclists, we recommend the WTR Route (Vistula Cycling Route), which can take you from Oświęcim to the center of Krakow.

”THE WORLD OF DREAMS” MINIATURE PARK IN INWAŁD

It is an attraction for children, teenagers, and of course adults, located 31 km (19 mi.) from Apartamenty na Ceglanej. One can easily get there via the voivodeship road towards the town of Kęty and then via the national road no 52 towards the city of Kraków.

The Park of Miniatures the World of Dreams is a unique place, where during your travels through Australia, Greece, Italy, Poland, China, France and Mexico you will admire miniature buildings characteristic of each of these countries. You will find there all the facilities, which are must-sees of a self-respecting tourist setting off on a journey around the world. Within just one day you will stand under the Eiffel Tower, at St. Peter’s Square, next to the Moai statues, under the Brandenburg Gate, by the gondola moored in the water canal surrounding St. Mark’s Square or next to the Great Wall of China. Most of the miniatures from the Park of Miniatures that were made in 1:15 scale, and the Venetian complex – St. Mark’s Square. St. Mark’s Square, St. Peter’s Basilica, St. Mark’s Campanile – in 1:10 scale.

THE CASTLE MUSEUM IN PSZCZYNA

For a one day trip, we suggest going to the Castle Museum in Pszczyna, which is located only 27 km (16.7 mi.) from Apartamenty na Ceglanej. It is easy to get there via the voivodeship road no 933 towards the town of Brzeszcze, which makes it a very popular tourist destination for our guests. It is worth noting that about 80% of original furnishing of the interiors of the Castle Museum from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries have been preserved. During the last decade some conservation works were performed. Based on the preserved iconography and archival inventories some former functions and interior arrangements were restored, uncovering original colourings and gildings. One can relax, in the true sense of the word, in the impressive park and castle gardens.

THE TOWN OF WADOWICE

The Holy Father John Paul II Family Home in Wadowice is a must-see place for somebody who would like to go for an interesting one day trip somewhere. The mission of the Museum is to commemorate and disseminate knowledge about the life and teaching of the Holy Father John Paul II, whose pontificate and message hold a special place in the Polish national heritage. In the town of Wadowice, which is located 30 km (18.6 mi.) from Apartamenty na Ceglanej, one can also taste the famous Polish papal cream cake.

PUMPED HYDROELECTRIC ENERGY STORAGE “PORĄBKA-ŻAR”

It is the second biggest pumped hydroelectric energy storage in Poland (the biggest is in the Żarnowiec village) and the only underground power station in the whole country. It is worth seeing, especially for people with an interest in engineering and technologies of this kind. Apart from that, from the top of Żar Mountain, one can admire the views of the Oświęcim Basin and take a sunbath on the southern slope, which in winter turns into a ski station.

VISTULA ETHNOGRAPHIC PARK IN WYGIEŁZÓW AND LIPOWIEC CASTLE

This museum is 20 km (12.4 mi.) away from Oświęcim and was established in 2007, although its beginning can be traced back to 1968. Today, the area of over 5 hectares comprises 25 examples of wooden architecture, which mainly represent the architecture of the Western Cracovians. The rural cottages and facilities, such as a smithy or an oil mill, have partially reconstructed furnishings, and the entire complex is complemented by various examples of landscape architecture, such as chapels or wells.
